We in MILAH believe that a feeling of “belonging” in Israel results from fluent usage of the Hebrew language and familiarity with its’ many different layers. MILAH offers a unique Hebrew Ulpan that operates for three semesters a year and consists of over 350 students in each semester.
The goals of MILAH’s Ulpan are to:
• Encourage fluency in the Hebrew language and develop methods of utilising the language in both social and cultural contexts.
• Provide a forum for those interested in improving their Hebrew skills.
• Provide our students the opportunity to participate in activities (in easy Hebrew) that will enhance their appreciation of Israeli culture (through the medium of literature, cinema, songs and theatre).
We offer advanced teaching methods and skilled teaching staff. All our teachers have been trained in the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and have many years of teaching experience between them. Our classes are small (maximum 23 students in each), which guarantees personal input from the teacher and an intimate and friendly environment in the lessons. We are conveniently based in the centre of Jerusalem.
The studies in the Ulpan include intensive morning courses offered at four levels of study, evening courses at six levels, and specialized courses such as: Conversational Hebrew, Written Hebrew and News & Current Events.
Cultural activities are integrated into the Ulpan studies, providing students with a taste of Israel and the richness of Israeli culture. These activities include: educational tours in Jerusalem, lectures on Israeli and Jewish culture, folklore and song evenings.
